The boys drink and review Captain Crowhill Abbey Ale, then discuss the recent spectacle of college students defending Hamas.
The conversation starts with a few assumptions.
* Israel exists
* It has a right to exist
* It has a right to defend itself
Why have there been so many ugly rallies in support of Hamas, and why have the universities been so silent about it. If you misgender someone on a college campus, that’s the end of you. But if you call for genocide against the Jews, that’s free speech.
These protestors divide the world between oppressor and oppressed, and somehow the Jews — possibly the most persecuted people in the history of the planet — are designated “oppressors.”
If you’re oppressed, colonized, marginalized, “of color,” etc., you’re automatically the good guy from the standpoint of the idiot left.

I agree with much of what you said regarding the pro-Hamas sentiments on college campuses. As for why Jews vote regularly for Democrats it’s precisely because they are not one-issue voters. For many the Democrats’ policies on the economy, immigration, civil liberties, etc. align with Jewish values – and outweigh differences over Israel. There was also the assumption that support for Israel is bipartisan so both parties will generally do the right thing regarding Israel. However if the Democrats come to be identified as anti-Israel that could change. But if the party keeps up its support- and the Republicans nominate Trump- I suspect most Jews will vote Democratic again.
Good comment, Joe. It’s often hard to vote because you don’t agree with everything any candidate stands for, and you have to choose what’s most important.
Right now, the left seems incapable of condemning the ugly anti-Semitism in its ranks. If that continues, I would expect that to shift more Jewish votes away from the Democrats. At this point it’s not a matter of policy. It’s a matter of safety.
